The incumbent will support scientific research leading to the development of technologies that benefit Canadians and contribute to CanmetMATERIALS’s mission and the mandate of Natural Resources Canada. This role involves providing technical support for material processing and alloy development, conducting tests, pilot-scale experiments, organizing equipment maintenance, and ensuring adherence to health and safety guidelines.

Salary

$65,216 to $81,985

Education

Successful completion of an accredited post-secondary technology program in materials, metallurgical, or manufacturing engineering technology.

Skills

Knowledge of material manufacturing technology principles. Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety procedures. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to analyze and evaluate information from various sources. Ability to plan and organize work, managing conflicting priorities. Ability to perform basic analytical testing methods associated with laboratory investigations.

Experience

Experience in planning, designing, and carrying out experimental work for metallic material fabrication in a research or industrial environment. Experience in collecting, preparing, verifying, and classifying samples; selecting the most efficient testing/analytical technique. Experience in assembling, installing, and operating apparatus or equipment for use in a research or industrial environment. Experience in identifying and recommending improvements for technical or operational issues during experiments.
