Technical Officer in Aerosol & Gas Sensing and Measurement Science

The National Research Council (NRC) is seeking a Technical Officer to join their Metrology Research Centre in Ottawa. The role involves supporting the Aerosol & Gas Metrology team, focused on studying airborne nanoparticles and gases. The officer will contribute to sensor development, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems, as well as conducting laboratory and field experiments. There will also be opportunities to work with external clients and apply the developed technologies in real-world scenarios.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Experience:

  • Experience with lasers, optical instruments, electrostatic-sensitive devices, or delicate optical components.
  • Experience with data acquisition systems.
  • Hands-on experience in a scientific or engineering field.

Skills:

  • Experience with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks).
  • Experience in analog/digital circuit design and PCB troubleshooting.
  • Experience in LabView, Python, or C/C++ for hardware control.
  • Familiarity with designing and fabricating scientific devices or measurement systems.

Salary Package:
From $81,799 to $105,724 per annum.
