Resource Conservation Student(s) (Nipigon, Ontario)

Parks Canada is hiring two students for the summer of 2025 to join the Resource Conservation Team at Lake Superior National Marine Conservation Area (NMCA). The positions will involve conducting angler surveys, data collection, fieldwork, equipment inventory and maintenance, and year-end reporting. Students will also participate in various conservation projects, including surveys of vegetation, bird, fish, and amphibians. The role requires working independently and in teams, often in remote environments and challenging weather conditions.

Required Education:

  • Enrolled in a post-secondary institution (College, University, CEGEP, etc.) in a program related to biological sciences, ecology, environmental sciences, or other natural sciences.
  • Must be a registered student or have recently graduated (within 4 months).

Experience:

  • Experience working in team environments.
  • Experience working around water.
  • Experience communicating with the public.
  • Experience in data recording, organization, and management.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of ecology, conservation, and aquatic resource management.
  • Ability to safely collect field data related to resource management.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Wilderness travel skills and experience in working safely in inclement weather conditions.

Salary Package:
$17.36 to $30.99 per hour (Salary determined based on the student’s academic level at the time of hire).
