Job Details

  • Process ringed seal and Arctic char tissue samples for metabolite and biotracer analysis.
  • Collect environmental data from remote Arctic field sites using water quality testing equipment and satellite-based environmental data.
  • Engage in boat-based travel and extended stays in remote Arctic locations.
  • Perform statistical analyses and modeling of metabolic and biotracer data.
  • Defend research findings internally and externally at meetings and conferences.
  • Contribute to the interpretation and publication of research findings in government reports and peer reviewed journals.

Job Information

Salary

$25.17 to $31.69 per hour, 18 hours per week

Education

Currently enrolled or willing to enroll in an MSc program at the University of Manitoba in Biological Sciences or Environment and Geography.

Skills

Knowledge of conservation biology. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Dependability and initiative.

Experience

Experience in laboratory or instrumental analysis. Experience in collecting and analyzing stomach content DNA or biotracer data (e.g., fatty acids, stable isotopes) for invertebrates, fishes, or marine mammals.
