Nurse Practitioners at Correctional Service Canada (CSC) play a critical role in delivering comprehensive health care in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team. Responsibilities include performing health assessments, diagnosing and treating health conditions, prescribing medication, and providing patient education. The role also involves mentoring nursing colleagues and offering on-call duties if required.

Required Education:

  • Master’s degree in nursing from a recognized university with specialization as a Nurse Practitioner.

Required Experience:

  • A minimum of five years’ experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Experience working in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team.

Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Leadership competencies including vision creation, mobilizing people, promoting innovation, and achieving results.
  • Knowledge of Primary Health Care principles, Nursing Standards of Practice, and management of both acute and chronic health conditions.

Salary Package: $97,100 to $113,163 per year, plus various allowances:

  • Nurse practitioner allowance: $18,000
  • Terminable allowance: $4,500
  • Education allowance: $3,850
  • Correctional Service Specific Duty Allowance: $2,140
