Join the dynamic skilled and semi-skilled maintenance team in Dawson, working on national historic sites in and around Dawson, YT. As a Carpenter, you will perform skilled carpentry work on both heritage and contemporary assets, including new construction, restoration, and rehabilitation. You’ll also be responsible for inspecting facility defects, creating work schedules, leading job sites, developing budget estimates, and procuring materials.
Required Education:
- Successful completion of a post-secondary program relevant to the position OR an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.
Experience:
- Significant experience working as a carpenter.
- Experience with building maintenance and construction techniques used in historic and contemporary assets.
- Experience with the tools, equipment, and materials used in the building trades.
- Experience with health and safety practices.
Skills:
- Knowledge of building maintenance and construction techniques for both historic and contemporary assets.
- Ability to use, inspect, and maintain a wide range of carpentry tools.
- Ability to review and interpret construction plans.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, providing leadership on job sites.
- Ability to estimate materials, costs, and tools required for projects.
- Demonstrates a culture of health and safety (OHS) and inclusivity.
Salary Package:
- $35.18 to $38.24 per hour (plus Isolated Post Allowance).
